Child Advocacy Center
A Community Response to Child Abuse

Services
At our Child Advocacy Center, we are dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for children and families affected by abuse and neglect. Our comprehensive services are designed to ensure that every child receives the care, protection, and advocacy they need. Here’s an overview of what we offer:

Forensic Interviews
A child advocacy center (CAC) forensic interview is a specialized, trauma focused, and child first based interview designed to gather information from children who may have experienced abuse or witnessed a crime. This process is conducted by trained professionals in a comfortable, trauma focused, child-friendly environment.

Case Management
Case managers at our Child Advocacy Center provide essential support to children and families affected by abuse and trauma. They safety plan with the family to identify individual needs, coordinate services across various agencies, and connect families to vital resources such as counseling and legal assistance. By offering ongoing guidance and advocacy, case managers ensure that each child receives comprehensive care tailored to promote healing and resilience. They can provide services on a longer basis, well past the immediate affects’ trauma can cause. Our Advocates work with the family for the duration of the individual’s involvement with court, law enforcement, ect. Whereas case management can continue until the case manager and family all feel the support is no longer necessary.

Advocacy
Advocates work 1 on 1 with the caregivers/family to provide a range of services. Those services include emotional support, crisis intervention, safety planning, information and referrals, and accompaniment to court, law enforcement interviews, medical exams and anything else pertaining to the victimization. Our advocates can also advocate on behalf of the family with the many different organizations that may be involved in a case. These can include law enforcement, medical providers, care management, housing, Department of Social Services, Child Protective Services, schools, probation, mental health providers, and so much more.

Crime Victims Compensation
Crime victims are entitled to compensation through the Office of Victims Services. This may include lost wages, damaged property, medical costs, counseling, and more. An advocate will assist you in filling out and submitting a claim form as well as any documentation needed.

Therapy
We offer specialized trauma focused therapy options for the child victims as well as their families/caregivers. For SAVAR we provide trauma focused therapy to any individual who has had a victimization both in the past and/or the present.

Community and Professional Education and Outreach
Our educator provides educational programs within the schools throughout the county in accordance with Erin’s Law. Community education on a wide range of topics is available to parents/caregivers, professionals, and other community members. Topics covered can include personal safety awareness, child sexual abuse awareness and prevention, consent, date/acquaintance rape, sexual harassment, predatory behaviors, digital safety, and healthy relationships. Topics provided can be tailored to the needs of the program or individuals. Programs are offered on site and within the community and are free of charge. We additionally attended community events to raise awareness and share information about the services we offer.
