Cayuga Counseling Services, Inc. has relationships with various local schools (Syracuse University, Cazenovia College, LeMoyne College) for internship placements in a variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs in such areas as Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Therapy, Social Work/Human Services, Criminal Justice, Accounting and Human Resources.
Opportunities exist in Cayuga and Onondaga counties and involve hands-on experience with individuals living with severe and persistent mental illness, developmental disabilities and youth with emotional challenges. Students may speak to their Academic Advisor for additional information on applying for an internship for-credit.
Cayuga Counseling Services, Inc. strongly encourages volunteerism both for our employees and the community as a whole. The Sexual Assault Victims Advocate Resource (SAVAR) provides free and confidential services to survivors and secondary victims of rape, incest, child sexual abuse, sexual harassment and other forms of sexual exploitation. The SAVAR program relies on volunteer Advocates to staff the crisis hotline.
Volunteer Advocates provide crisis intervention services, short-term solution focused counseling, accompaniment and advocacy services to clients. Volunteer Advocates must complete a free training program, be 18 years of age, have a telephone and access to a vehicle.
